734 Barkeyville Rd Car Into House PDF Print E-mail

Image 0015 hrs this morning Station 85 was alerted for an MVA with entrapment, vehicle into a house with  possible fire.  Mercer 911 received reports of 2 people that were unconcious.  Chief 85 arrived on scene to find a vehicle into a house with steam coming from the engine compartment with no fire.  Chief 85 advised 2 pts still in the vehicle which were unconcious.  Engine 85 arrived on scene with a crew of 5 and quickly went to work.  Engine 85 pulled a 1 1 3/4 for precaution.  Medic 110 arrived shortly after to do a quick pt. assessment and made the call to do a quick load and go for the driver of the vehicle. Squad 85 arrived on scene along with Medic 107 to assist with the pt. extrication.  Pt. was removed from the vehicle within minutes and was loaded into Medic 107.  The passenger of the vehicle was assesed by the second EMS unit, Medic 105 and obtained a refusal.  Minimal structural damaged occured to the residence.  Station 85 units operated on scene approximately 1 1/2 hrs on scene before returning to service.

0512hrs this morning Station 85 was alerted for a working motor vehicle fire that was endangering other vehicles.  Engine 85 went enroute with a crew of 5.  Arrival on scene, Engine 85 advised of a fully involved vehicle fire with multiple exposures.  Engine 85's crew made quick work of the fire and had the fire under control within minutes.  Engine 85-2 arrived on scene with 6 to supplement additional water and manpower.  Crews operated approx 30 mins on scene before returning into service.

At 18:20 hrs this evening station 85 was alerted for a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries between George Jr and Nicklin Rd. Squad 85 went en route within 4 minutes with a full crew of 6 and arrived on scene and established N Broad St. Ext command. Engine 85 arrived on scene and setup traffic control as both vehicles were still on the roadway. Superior treated one patient with no injuries as a result of the crash but low blood sugar. Units operated for approximately 20 minutes and cleared the scene.

At 18:21 hrs this evening Station 85 was alerted along with 95,77,87,76 for a reported chimney fire.  95 was due for Engine 95, 87 was due with Rescue 87, 77 was alerted for Engine and Tanker 77, 76 was due with their Rapid Intervention team.  Engine 85 went enroute with 5 and arrived on scene to find a 1 1/2 story wood frame residential structure with nothing showing from the exterior.  Chief 85 established Blom Rd. Command with onscene operations on fire ground 15.  Engine 85-2 was second due to stage for a water supply.  Rescue 87 arrived on scene 3rd due and was instructed to ladder the roof.  Squad 85 staged after arrival on scene.  Interior crews found nothing inside the structure while 87's crew found nothing evident from the chimney from the roof.  Engine's 95,76 was cleared to return into service while 77 was to remain on standby for 85.  Crews operated briefly onscene before returning into service.

22:17 hrs 1/21/2008 Station 85 was requested by Station 84 to assist them at an MVA in which a tractor trailer had hit a pole and fled the scene leaving a main phone line hanging low above the roadway.  Station 85 was requested to divert all truck traffic going north on 173 due to the phone line hanging low.  Station 85 responded Command 85 with a crew of 4 for traffic control.  Command 85 staged at I-80 and 173.  Crew operated on scene approx 4 hours awaiting Verizon telephone.  Command 85 was finally relieved by a Penn Dot offical 4 hours into the incident.
